BACKGROUND

VDT is a project based company that produces works that combine in a dynamic and theatrical way the many cultures, backgrounds and tastes that enrich South Africa.

The noble idea to form VDT, in 1999, visited Gregory Maqoma while he was away on a dance scholarship at PARTS, in Brussels. An unbelievable growth profile has written itself over this short period of time. Of the works created thus far , some were nominated, others scooped awards.

VDT has appeared and is sought for performances by various venues at home and around the world (see calendar)

The festival is an initiative of the late South African performer/musician, Raymond Matinyane, that was realized in 1999. Gregory Maqoma is the Artistic Director of Afrovibes and Sikho Malinga is the Festival's SA Coordinator. Programmes of the 2004 and 2006 Afrovibes as well as other information can be viewed on www.afrovibes.nl.
